Mlindeni Ndlovu (31), Thato Maega (36) and Sifiso Nkutha (40) were recently sentenced to eight years in prison in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on charges of business robbery.
Randburg police spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said on 28 January 2015 at about 9.55pm the police received a call about a robbery in progress at the Toyota Imperial dealership in Braaamfischer Street, Kensington B.
The officers responded and on their arrival, they checked the perimeter of the dealership’s premises and nothing looked suspicious.
Due to a lack of access to the property, they decided to drive to the other entrance where they noticed a guard room. They then spotted the men running away.
The two police officers, Sergeant Lefate Makunyane and Constable Tebogo Mohale gave chase, resulting in the arrest of Ndlovu and Maega. The police put a lookout for Nkutha and he was eventually arrested.
During investigations, a security officer at the company was found only wearing his underwear. The robbers had undressed him and taken his clothes, cellphone, panic button and cash.
Maja added that a case was opened and assigned to Detective Sergeant Dennis Moodley.
“[Moodely] worked very hard on the matter and the three were recently handed an eight-year sentence each.” said Maja
