The police are requesting the community’s assistance to help them with information that will lead to the arrest of Mostafa Makhlouf, a 21-year old Egyptian national who is wanted for questioning in connection with a child kidnapping.
According to Captain Xoli Mbele of Johannesburg Central Police Station, the suspect allegedly kidnapped his one-month-old daughter in Mayfair at 4pm on 4 September. The father of the baby, who is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the mother, went to her place of residence, claiming to be there to see his child.
The police are investigating allegations that he took the child from her mother and went outside. He then jumped into a gold Peugeot 206 and sped off.
It is also alleged that the car bumped into the baby’s grandmother who was trying to stop him.
Police are asking the community for any information about the whereabouts of the suspect to urgently contact Constable Bomikazi Matshata at the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit.
