Spring edition of the Linden Market

EMMARENTIA – Celebrating the sunshine with a neighbourhood market.

It was a wonderful day to spend with family and friends while enjoying all that the warm weather has to offer at the Spring Edition of the Linden Market in the Park.

The market was hosted on 2 September at the Emmarentia Botanical Garden near to the beautiful rose garden. Local residents have come to enjoy many successful markets at the gardens and it seems that the buzz is spreading.

Meet Cruz, Natalie, Chloe and Jessica Castel as they enjoy a quick refreshing drink.

A variety of stalls offered an assortment of items from picnic blankets to handcrafted T-shirts. What made this event all the more enjoyable was the diversity of stalls whether you were hungry, thirsty or in need of a chill session – you knew where to get your fix. Although, one small issue was the lack of signage for parking entrances and exits.

Colleen Biddlecombe and Jaco Lötter of the #MMM Blankets team ask people to join the worthy cause.

Whether you were in the mood for a wine ice lolly, cocktail or scrumptious pulled pork roll, the food court had it all.

There was plenty space to grab your munchies and relax in the shade while listening to great local performers. Aside from the usual market feel of shop and drop, care was taken to highlight local charities.

CLAW (Community Led Animal Welfare) and the Benji + Moon Date-a dog team had a wonderful day too. Dogs were brought to the market to have walking ‘dates’ so they could find a forever home. The support shown by the community saw doggies, Toffee, Alex, Chocolate, Sage, Caramel and two puppies finding their new homes.

Also, 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day proudly displayed their massive knitted square South African flag.
