An armed robbery suspect was shot and killed following a shooting incident on the N1 near the Rivonia Road exit in Sandton.
According to the Sandton Chronicle the incident occured on the afternoon of 6 September. Captain Kay Makhubela, Gauteng police spokesperson, confirmed the shooting.
“Suspects followed a man from the bank and robbed him in Randpark Ridge,” he said. “The victim was armed and shot at the suspects as they were making their getaway. One suspect was shot and killed.”

Makhubela said the suspects’ vehicle was a Honda, stolen in Olifantsfontein.
“The victim called in a look-out on the suspects’ vehicle which police followed up on,” explained Makhubela. “Two of the suspects dumped the vehicle on Rivonia Road in Sandton, where one of the suspects was found dead in the vehicle.”

Makhubela said it is not clear how much money was stolen from the victim and police were investigating the case.
