Northwold Residents Association host their inaugural spring party
NORTHWOLD – Why stay indoors when you don't even know your neighbour.
Children were playing and laughing while their parents were conversing and braaing at the Northwold Residents Association’s inaugural spring neighbourhood party on 3 September.
The party was a means for residents to meet each other which Conny Botha, who handles all community work and functions for the association, believes is crucial.
“There is nothing worse than being in a community where you don’t know your neighbour,” she said.
The party was also a chance for the children of the neighbourhood to make new friends.
Botha added that she was happy to see the community come together following a devastating wake-up call two years ago. A resident was shot and killed during a house robbery and their neighbour was home throughout the incident and had no idea what was going on.
This resulted in the association prioritising the security and safety of the Randburg suburb and it has since grown into an interactive community group.
With Londoloza Protection Group partnering with the association and providing security on the day, children played on jumping castles and had their faces painted while the grown ups chilled.
There were more than 160 people at the party and there wasn’t a worry in sight.
