WARNING: 33-hour water outage planned for 23 areas

NORTHCLIFF – Water tankers will be based in various areas to meet the water demand.

Northcliff residents living on Washington Drive as well as residents in surrounding areas will be hit with a planned water outage for 33 hours.

Johannesburg Water announced on their website that from 5 September at 8am to 6 September at 5pm, there will be a planned water outage.

The outage will not only affect Washington Drive residents but also a number of the surrounding, as well as, other areas connected to the particular water system. A total of 23 areas will be hit by the outage.

According to the announcement, residents on Washington Drive may only be affected by the outage six hours after the shutdown, however, residents living within the water tower zones will be affected within an hour.

Both Linden 1 and 2 reservoirs, as well as the Linden Tower, will be affected. Other towers include Kensington Tower and the Kensington reservoir zone.

The outage comes as a result of Rand Water undertaking repairs and replacements to sections of the trunk main (F46 pipe line).

Due to the long outage, water tankers will be placed around affected areas for residents to collect water.
