Some tea for the nineties
BROMHOF – If any age should be celebrated then making it to 90 years and older should be one of them.

Village of Golden Harvest No 1 retirement home gracefully embraces age and felt that residents over the age of 90 needed a little celebration.
The entertainment committee at the home organised a delightful get together with VIP guests, residents’ family and the sage 90-year-olds on 25 August.

Ben van Wyk from the committee said, “We really wanted to embrace our 90-year-old plus residents so we thought getting together for a good laugh and some sweet treats would be just right.”

Each guest was treated to delicious cake supplied by Northwold Spar as well as yummy sandwiches and tea prepared by the home. The entertainment room was beautifully decorated with a special chocolate placed at each sitting for those with a sweet tooth.

One resident, Thelma Pybus is 96 years old and still going strong.
“It is a good feeling to have a bit of upliftment with my friends,” she said. “I have been here the longest and I call it home.”
