Linden police arrest three suspects after car chase

LINDEN – Attempted grand theft auto in Linden.

Linden police officers arrested three men on 23 August following a car chase from Linden to Bryanston.

Captain Walter Spencer, spokesperson for Linden Police Station, said the officers had noticed a suspicious-looking brown Mini Cooper on Central Road in Linden with three men inside.

The police witnessed one of the occupants leaving the car and proceeding to try steal a VW Polo.

When police approached the vehicle, the suspect ran back to the vehicle and a car chase ensued.

The officers, assisted by Randburg police, chased the car from Linden to the corner of William Nichol Drive and Main Street in Bryanston.

When the police finally stopped the Mini Cooper, they arrested the three men who were inside.

The men have been charged with theft, reckless and negligent driving and defeating the ends of justice.
