These conditions have not occurred overnight, but are a result of 23 years of neglect by various stakeholders.

“It has, however, been brought to my attention that a group of residents called the Windsor Community Recovery Movement have taken it upon themselves to correct this situation by telling tenants not to pay their rentals. I have received reports of intimidation from both tenants and owners alike,” said Weweje.

Tenants who are a part of the movement have been encouraged to rather pay their rent into Movements trust accout.

“I would emphatically state that I do not support or condone the actions of this movement. I do believe that the residents of Windsor are being misled and I fear the residents, who are being misled, will face legal repercussions, which will exasperate conditions in the area.”

Resident’s side of the story

Weweje explained that she has received no confirmation from the movement that any of the money collected from the tenants has been directed to services such as water and electricity, which begs the question, where the money is going to?
