Mayweather vs McGregor

JOBURG – You don't have to watch the fight of the century alone.

Undefeated in 49 fights, Floyd ‘Money ‘ Mayweather will put his record on the line against Irishmen and mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The biggest boxing match of the century will be screened live at the Northcliff Country Club on 27 August at 3am.

The 12-round duel has been highly anticipated since it was announced in June. Both fighters have been throwing jabs at each other via social media and in interviews. This will be McGregor’s first professional boxing match and many believe this is where his disadvantage will lie.

Mayweather’s disadvantage many believe is his age, 40, and that fact that his last fight was on 12 September 2015, his longest period between fights. Regardless of these facts, fans all over the world cannot wait for ‘The Money Fight’.

It has been dubbed so because both fighters will walk away with a handful of dollars. It is said McGregor will earn about US$ 80 million (about R1 billion) while Mayweather is expected to be paid US$250 million (about R3 billion). The fight is projected to have a total revenue of US$ 700 million, this is the biggest amount for any combat sport ever.

Northcliff Country Club invites members of the public to come watch the fight of the century. An option people have for the early morning fight is to sleep over or pull an all-nighter at the club.

Fans can take their sleeping bags and pillows and sleep in the hall. At 3am, everyone will be woken up for the fight and refreshments and food will be served throughout the event.
