A suspect (34) is expected to appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon after being found in possession of suspected stolen property.
It is alleged that on 19 August, at about 11.10pm, police were conducting their routine patrol when they spotted a suspicious-looking person carrying a box over his shoulders on the corner of Mikro Lane and Dover Street.
“They approached the suspect and requested him to be searched and his box,” said Captain Makgowanyana Maja, spokesperson for Randburg Police Station.
Police found copper cables inside the box. The suspect failed to provide a proper explanation of where he obtained the cables from.
Maja said he was immediately placed under arrest for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
