Johannesburg Roads Agency seeks new managing director

JOBURG – The Johannesburg Roads Agency is looking for a new managing director.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency board will soon be advertising its managing director position after Dr Sean Phillips confirmed his resignation last week.

Phillips confirmed this on the morning of 11 August and said his reason for resignation was personal.

In the meanwhile, the agency’s chief financial officer, Goodwill Mbatha has been appointed as the acting managing director with immediate effect.

The agency’s spokesperson, Bertha Peters-Scheepers, said the agency has expressed their appreciation for Phillips’ leadership and contribution since his appointment on 1 May last year.

Chairperson for the board, Sipho Tshabalala said, “Regrettably, the agency accepted the resignation of Phillips. His focus on organisational performance and improvements to service delivery have been widely acknowledged and his expertise in the development of operational systems and procedures have set a solid foundation for a performance-oriented organisation.

“The benefits of his contribution to the agency will continue to be realised in years to come. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”
