Standard Bank Top Women has been around for over 15 years.

This year, Mintek manager for mineralogy, Nosiphiwo Nyamane, was proud to join the ranks of the Awards’ alumni, as a finalist in the Female Public Sector Leader Award Category.

She will vie for the award at this year’s 14th annual ceremony, taking place on 17 August. An excited Nyamane said, “To get recognition for daily efforts is really humbling. Mintek and our current CEO, Abiel Mngomezulu have been very supportive in giving women in the organisation a platform and opportunity in leadership. I am really grateful that now the world can see the work that women do, not only at Mintek but at the other organisations nominated in these awards.”

Standard Bank Top Women has awarded outstanding women leaders and gender-strong companies across a host of market sectors.

Mintek communications officer, Elvis Tshweneyame said the women’s journeys to success ignite the ambition of Africa’s women to pursue their own goals in business.

“As well as in government, science, technology and other fields, while showcasing the robust business performance that results from having more women in leadership roles.”

The Praegville based organisation also stands a chance to win the Company category for Top Gender Empowered Company: Resources Award.

“Entries for the awards, both individual and organisational, were evaluated against strict criteria of both gender empowerment and performance, in order to designate award finalists,” said Tshweneyame.

He concluded this year’s panel of esteemed judges includes Kate Moodley, franchise director at Discovery Holdings; Phuti Mahanyele, Sigma Capital executive chairperson and Margaret Sibiya, COO for ICT-Works.

“Several of the judges commented on the impressive calibre of this year’s entrants, which made the intensive adjudication process even more challenging than in previous years.”
