Highly placed sources have confirmed that the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mduduzi Manana, will be in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court at 11am this morning.
Manana is accused of assaulting a woman at the Fourways night club, Cubana over the weekend.
Manana has issued several statements apologising for the alleged assault. There is a large media contingent at court, waiting for Manana’s arrival. There has been a widespread criticism of how the police handled the whole matter. South Africans are calling for his arrest.

On 9 August, Police Minister Fikile Mbalula said a notice to appear in court was served on the Deputy Minister, raising concerns as to why no arrest was made.
