Housebreaker nabbed in Randburg

BRYANBRINK – Randburg Police station find a housebreaking suspect hidden in the base of the victim's bed.

A 25-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of housebreaking.
The victim whose house was burgled left her premises at about 4pm on 1 August. The windows and doors of the house were locked.

Captain Makgowanyana Maja, of Randburg Police Station explained that the woman received a call from the neighbours on 6 August informing her of an intruder who had jumped over the wall into her property.

“She then rushed back home where she found the police already on the scene,” said Maja.

She opened the door to her house so that the police could start the search for the suspect, as he was still in the house.
The suspect was found hidden underneath the bed inside the base in the bedroom and he was arrested.

Maja said other arrests made by the police and other law enforcement agencies through operations held during the weekend included arrests for malicious damage to property, possession of dagga, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, robbery with a weapon other than a firearm and fraud.
