Biker injured in accident

BLAIRGOWRIE – The cause of the collision is not yet known.

A man believed to be in his 30s was left critically injured on the afternoon of 20 June when his scooter collided with a taxi on Jan Smuts Avenue in Blairgowrie.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived on the scene and found both the taxi and scooter on the side of the road.

“The driver of the scooter was found lying a few metres away. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition,” Meiring said.

Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated in an effort to stabilise the patient’s vital signs.

“Once treated, the man was transported to Mediclinic Sandton for urgent treatment. While on route, the patient’s vital signs diminished and CPR was started. Fortunately, upon arrival at the hospital, the patient vital signs returned.”

The cause of the collision is not yet known, however, local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
