Taxi collision: Pedestrian in critical condition

BLAIRGOWRIE – Five occupants from the taxi were treated for minor injuries and later transported to a nearby hospital

 

 

A pedestrian was left in a critical condition and five taxi occupants sustained minor injuries in a collision on Jan Smuts Avenue in Blairgowrie on the evening of 14 June.

ER24 communications manager, Werner Vermaak said paramedics arrived on the scene after 6pm where they found the taxi on the side of the road.

“It is understood that the driver of the taxi lost control and collided with a pedestrian, leaving him in a critical condition. He was assessed by paramedics and placed on life support.

“The ER24 One Plan Medical Helicopter was called to the scene to airlift him to the hospital for further treatment. Paramedics transported the critically injured man to a sports field opposite the crash site where the helicopter landed.”

Five occupants from the taxi were treated for minor injuries and later transported to a nearby hospital.
