Little Bean staff help nursery schools in Zandspruit

ZANDPRUIT – Little Bean Nursery School is challenging other schools to start helping less fortunate schools.

Little Bean Nursery School staff proved that every child’s basic needs are the same as any other, despite their circumstances.

This after the managing staff took time off their busy schedules and dedicated half of their morning on 1 June to visit a number of nursery schools in Zandspruit informal settlement.

The caring members, Debbie Brandsma; the principal of Little Bean, Caitlin Brandsma; and Michelle Meyer packed sandwiches, fruit, toiletries and stationery to donate to the various schools.

Ipupeng, Kopano, Olerato and Kgotso day care centres were some of the schools that Little Bean reached out to.

The tour was made possible by Warrant Officer Leshaba Ramalatso from the Honeydew Police Crime Prevention Unit. Ramalatso’s presence created exciting memories for the children, as many were thrilled to see a policeman and real gun for the first time.

The visibly moved Debbie, after spending more than two hours distributing the basic care items and playing with the children, challenged wealthier nursery schools to help others in need.

“I feel the children at our schools are fortunate. Driving to Zandspruit and seeing these children in dire need is painful. We challenge other nurseries to do this as well.”
