Love and hugs for mums on Mother’s Day

MALANSHOF – Tea party occasion enjoyed by elders on Mother's Day.

Mother’s Day at Silver Stream Retirement Village proved that a little goes a long way when families and staff visited the facility to host a tea party for the elderly on 13 May.

Although some residents did not have the privilege to be visited by their families, the Flower Foundation – an organisation that develops and manages retirement villages – made the occasion special and exciting for its residents.

Caring daughters Jenny Denysschen and Loren Nesbit take selfies with their 74-year-old mother, Ros Nesbit at the Mother’s Day tea party.

The foundation hosted a special Mother’s Day tea party for the residents, which consisted of motivational talks from the CEO, Johan Raubenheimer, games and raffles sponsored by Beautiful Biltong, a store situated in Randburg.

“Today [13 May] we had tea for Mother’s Day and on Mother’s Day [14 May] we having lunch because we want to honour the mothers in our facilities. We have some children of the mothers who joined us and for those who could not have their children present, we wanted to honour them,” explained Raubenheimer.

Two loving daughters Jenny Denysschen (47) and Loren Nesbit (52) visited the village to spend time with their 74-year-old mother, Ros Nesbit. The trio sat around a table cuddling each other and taking selfies.

“We love our mother; she has done more for us than we can imagine and now it’s our time to do things for her,” enthused Denysschen.
