Nine Metro police officers are currently attending an advanced crime-fighting course in China.
This according to Michael Sun, MMC for Public Safety, who said the officers travelled to China on 5 May to attend the course for two weeks at the National Police University of China (NPUC) in the City of Shenyang.
“These officers will return with deeper crime-fighting expertise which can be shared with others at Metro police,” Sun said.
The officers will undergo training in drug control and international co-operation, credit card crime and associated countermeasures, computer crime investigation, handprint development and analysis techniques, footprint identification techniques, application of DNA techniques in criminal investigation and analysis techniques of explosive devices and fragmentation.
Sun said the university sponsored all the travel, accommodation and training costs for all nine officers.
Lerato Mofokeng, Stanley Swartz, Sekese Ntsoane, Billy Osborne, Cynthia Mbobela, Duncan Klaas, Phumlani Masango and Rico van Wyk were chosen as the top-performing officers, led by Sherraz Mahomed Hoosen.
