NPO calls for stallholders to participate in annual fête

FAIRLAND – This NPO is calling for stallholders to start registering in order to display and sell their goods.

The Moth Cottesloe Retirement Village in Fairland will host its annual fundraising fête and Jan Smuts parade on 3 June.

The village is a non-profit organisation for ex-servicemen and -women. The majority of the residents rely on a government pension for a living.

This non-profit organisation (NPO) is calling for stallholders to start registering in order to display and sell their goods. This fundraising event is held to assist with the increasing upkeep and day-to-day running costs of the complex. Residents from this complex endeavour to raise funds by whatever means possible.

The fundraising is held simultaneously with the annual Jan Smuts parade with the purpose of bringing visitors to the village. All the money raised, will go directly to the Cottesloe Retirement Village.

The village authorised Gillian Walker, who is a resident of the complex, to assist with fundraising and to approach prospective donors on their behalf. The fête includes a range of stalls which feature gardening, white elephant sales, books, a tea garden, food, vegetables, cakes and private stands.

Walker said they currently do not receive any subsidies for the cottages and their income relies on the monies they levy from residents and any generous assistance they receive.

“The government does not help us, we rely on donors and this fundraising which has been going on for the past 12 years,” she said.

Stallholders and prospective donors can contact Lenard Wynne or Glan Raubenheimer.

The event is scheduled to start at 8am while stallholders are expected to be at the venue at 6am.
