UPDATE: Parents describe missing 17 year old as ‘outgoing and energetic’

RANDPARK RIDGE – A 17-year-old girl has gone missing in Randpark Ridge.

Brittany Barnes is still missing after going for a walk outside her house in Randpark Ridge, around 4pm on 17 April.

The 17 year old’s father, Andrew, described her as an “outgoing, energetic person” and said the support he and his wife, Elaine, have received from the public, Honeydew Police, the Honeydew Community Policing Forum and The Pink Ladies Organisation for Missing Children, has been great.

He said his daughter did not go for walks that often, but sometimes jogged up and down the quiet roads near the home for half an hour to an hour.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan said a missing persons case is open, and the matter is under investigation. “Anyone who has information about Barnes’ whereabouts should please come forward,” he said.

The 17-year-old’s mother, Elaine, and father, Andrew, are appealing to anyone who might have seen her to please contact them.

She was wearing navy/black tights, a black T-shirt and teal Nike tekkies.

“We have contacted her close friends, put appeals on Facebook and used every avenue we can,” said Elaine.

A missing persons case has been opened at Honeydew Police station.
