The Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge Great Hall came alive with the sound of beautiful music and talented voices as it celebrated its 20th anniversary with a musical concert, Arise.
The school has two choirs, the Trinity Singers Mixed Choir and the Trinity Singers All Girls’ Choir, which entertained a full hall for two hours, singing renditions of songs which have been significant in the school’s history.
The concert was directed by Riaan Vorster, Dean of Arts and Culture at Trinityhouse. The school choir was established in 2006. Initially, it was an ad-hoc group which was not a formal choir.
The audience was delighted and moved by each performance, but was blown away by the mass choir performance of Carl Orff’s O Fortuna, as 50 old Trinitonian (alumni) joined the current choirs on stage for a breathtaking performance. A strong choir of 160 people, accompanied by a grand percussion ensemble dazzled the audience and received a standing ovation.
This was an emotional concert as the school was also bidding a farewell to Vorster since it was his last performance at Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge. He will be leaving the school at the end of the term to take up a post as headmaster of Maragon High in Ruimsig.
“Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge strives to maximise the enjoyment and successful participation of its pupils in a wide variety of cultural activities, provided by or associated with the campus. Their proud heritage of cultural excellence was highlighted again with this performance,” said the school’s public relations officer Christelle Wolmarans.
“At Trinityhouse, we would like to take the opportunity and thank Riaan for his dedication, support and encouragement of the arts for the past 20 years. We wish him all the success for his new venture and trust that he will continue to bless many young lives by teaching them the value and appreciation of the arts,” she said.
