Police arrest 5 after armed robbery at Bromhof Spar

BROMHOF – Police say investigation is ongoing.

Police have arrested five suspects believed to be involved in an armed robbery at Bromhof Spar on the afternoon of 25 March.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, captain Balan Muthan said that details were still sketchy and some information could not be divulged to the public at this stage because the investigation is still ongoing.

He would not confirm whether anyone was injured in the incident, or whether two firearms were recovered, as mentioned in a Facebook post on the Weltevreden Park community page. He also said five suspects were arrested, not four as the post stated.

The post, published later that night, read, “An armed robbery took place at the Bromhof Spar earlier this evening. After a combined effort with Security Companies and SAPS, 4 suspects have been arrested and 2 firearms retrieved. With team work like this the message should get through to the thugs that the teams are not giving up on catching them. Thank you to everyone and congrats on the teamwork and nabbing of these guys.”

This is a developing story and more details will be published as they become available.
