Ready, steady, wok!

BOSKRUIN – Two SA celebs take each other on and see who can tame the wok beast.

 

Community members, long-standing customers and food lovers gathered together to watch the smoking hot Ready, Steady, Wok cook-off hosted at Simply Asia Boskruin.

The tasty fun-filled event saw two celebrities battle it out at the wok to find out who had the chops to cook the best and be crowned the semi-finalist. DJ Soosh and The Voice’s Thapelo Lekoane, armed with their aprons and recipes, took to the cooking stations to create two meals off the Simply Asia menu.

Andrew, Daniel and Caren Kelly are regulars at the restaurant.

Actress Buhle Moletsane graciously hosted the night and introduced the first-ever Ready, Steady, Wok event.

Resident chefs showed the audience and the celebrities how meals were prepared by the professionals. The competition was tough between DJ Soosh and Thapelo, with the smell of spices, garlic and fried rice permeating the air.

After the meals were prepared and guests’ tummies were full, judges, Yasser Ismail, Milos Mozalek and Floh Thiele taste-tested each of the dishes.

The overall winner and semi-finalist was DJ Soosh, who had a little more luck with the wok.

The finals for the competition will be held in Fourways on 8 April to crown the overall Ready, Steady, Wok winner.
