Move over Charlize Theron, here comes Bianca McLean

RANDBURG – Local young actress and model is selected to perform in America.

RANDBURG – Bianca McLean is not your average 17-year-old – she is a born performer.

She has had an interest in performing from a very young age.

Her parents joked that her acting career started the moment she uttered her first words. Yet, her acting journey began in Grade 8, when she was accepted at the Christian School of Arts as a musical theatre major.

At the same time, she began completing her Trinity School of London Performance Arts examinations and is currently working on her Grade 8 exam, the last exam before she can begin studying for her teacher’s qualification.

McLean also dabbled in modelling from a young age, but it fell away as other interests became more important to her.

Recently she decided to take up modelling again.

With all her ambition and hard work, it is no wonder McLean was spotted by an international talent scout, Kim Myers, to go and perform at the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (Arts) in Orlando, Florida, in July. When in the USA she will compete in both plus-sized modelling as well as acting.

“I’m passionate about the performing arts and spreading its cheer. I would like to see the arts in South Africa develop and flourish so that every talented artist is given the opportunity to shine,” said McLean, who has many achievements behind her name for acting, including two diplomas in the Eisteddfod 2016, as well two gold medals for drama.

She made it to the national round of the South African Championships of the Performing Arts for acting and has majored in acting for four years. Performing in the arts will only add more to her list.

McLean is considered a plus-size model even though she is a healthy weight.

“In my opinion, plus-size models should be considered the norm, while what we consider normal runway models should be called petite figure models,” she added.

“I hope the legacy I leave behind is that anything is possible with hard work. Never be afraid to dream big; if your dreams don’t scare you a little bit, they aren’t big enough.”
