No doubt many of your readers have seen the TV show, Border Security Australia, plus various other shows based in New Zealand and the United States of America.

These show the efforts of customs officials at the various airports, docks and post offices in the relative countries to stop the import of drugs into the country.

When they find a suspect substance, they simply put a minute quantity of it into a small plastic container full of a liquid, shake it for a few seconds, watch the colour of the liquid change and immediately they know what the substance is such as heroin, cocaine and meth. This whole process takes about 20 seconds.

Even an untrained child could do it. Why then did it take several months to do the same thing here?
