Sector 1 crime on the increase

BOSKRUIN – Read what was discussed at the first Sector 1 CPF meeting of the year.

BOSKRUIN – A Sector 1 Community Police Forum meeting was held at the Barn Church in Boskruin on 13 February.
The first monthly meeting of the year saw discussions arise about the increase in crime in the area as well as one or two success stories from local security companies.
In the meeting, it was stated that one or two criminals were operating in the sector on foot. Security companies claimed that criminals have very good knowledge of the area and are able to disappear quickly.
It was announced that chairperson Gerhard Erasmus had resigned from the forum, and Neil McMullan was the new acting chairperson.
McMullan reminded those in attendance that the forum was in desperate need of funds.

“Any small donations or monthly debit orders are greatly appreciated,” said McMullan.Honeydew CPF public relations officer Jon Rosenberg said the forum also needed volunteers.
“You don’t need to put yourself in danger. All we ask is for one to two hours a month [per volunteer],” said Rosenberg.

Each individual who is willing to volunteer their time to help fighting crime would be put through a vetting system which included taking fingerprints. Rosenberg added that the only way the war against crime would be won was the for the community to come together.
Each Sector 1 meeting is hosted on the first Monday of every month. The next meeting will be held on 13 March at the same venue at 7pm.
