UPDATE: Cyclist dies after hit and run in Boskruin

BOSKRUIN – A cyclist who was knocked down during a hit and run collision has passed away.

The cyclist who was knocked down in a hit and run collision on President Fouche Drive close to Boskruin Village passed away on the morning of 27 January.

A friend and a cycling group member Jacques Swart said the accident that occurred the day before, was tragic and they have lost a dear friend. He said they used to cycle together almost every single day. “Our group is standing strong and we are supporting the family during this tragic time,” he said.

Swart said he started the cycling group and they used to cycle together in a group almost six days a week. The cyclist, Andrew Bradford left his wife and two sons behind.

Bradford was knocked down by one of the three drivers who was allegedly involved in an altercation with the police at a shebeen on Rabie Street, just prior to the incident.

Jacques said they would like the senseless drinking and driving to completely stop. Meanwhile, an appeal to track down the drivers of three vehicles which were moving in a convoy was still standing. Andre Synman posted on eBlockwatch’s Facebook page, appealing for camera footage which could help trace the three vehicles.

The vehicles were a white Land Rover, blue BMW and the third vehicle was just identified as blue in colour. The blue BMW collided with the cyclist.

Bradford was thrown more than 20m and sustained severe injuries.
