Cyclist knocked down after driver has altercation with police

BOSKRUIN – The driver involved in a hit and run collision was initially involved in an altercation with the police just prior to the incident.

A driver who allegedly sped off after a hit and run collision was one of the people involved in an altercation with the police at a shebeen on Rabie Street, just prior to the incident.

The collision occurred on President Fouche Drive just before Boskruin Village Shopping Centre on 26 January where a cyclist was knocked down and is apparently in critical condition.

Now there is a call to track down the drivers of three vehicles which were moving in a convoy.  Andre Synman posted on eBlockwatch’s Facebook page, appealing for camera footage which could help trace the three vehicles.

The accident occurred just before 5am. The vehicles were a white Land Rover, blue BMW and the third vehicle was just identified with a blue colour. The blue BMW collided with the cyclist.

The cyclist was apparently thrown over 20m and sustained severe injuries. The three drivers were allegedly involved in an altercation with police in front of the shebeen prior to the accident. Anyone with information can WhatsApp Andre Snyman of eblockwatch on 082 561 1065.

Honeydew police spokesperson, captain Balan Muthan said he wasn’t aware of the incident and could only provide information on the morning of 27 January.  This collision was apparently attended to by Netcare 911 which could not provide any information at this stage.

More details will be published as soon they are available.
