Community chips in to pave Delta Park parking lot

DELTA PARK – Delta Park sports a new parking lot after the Delta Park community, organisations and Blairgowrie Primary School rallied around Shirley Tebbutt.

Delta Park has just become prettier after the parking area was paved with bricks donated by residents, schools and organisations.

Shirley Tebbutt, who oversees the park, said it all began when Ray Segal from Blairgowrie Primary School asked her if she could find a use for a large area of interlocking paving bricks that they were lifting from their own parking area.

“The journey began and I asked a contractor for advice on how to level the ground and lay the paving. To my amazement, he said he would put in half the cost. He contacted his sub-contractor Joe Lewis, who agreed to do the job and then he kindly donated all the cement edgings,” Tebbutt said.

Despite the contractor’s generous offer, Tebbutt still had a lot of money left to fundraise and she was relieved when the Blairgowrie Community Association contributed generously. However, she still needed to raise more.

“I then appealed to all the regular and loyal supporters of Delta Park and they donated sizable amounts. The Craighall Park Residents Association donated the final amount,” Tebbutt added.

“I would like to thank everyone who stepped in and donated money for the paving, it makes the park a better place and it was a wonderful way to end 2016.”

Blairgowrie Primary School donated close to a 1 000m² of bricks to Delta Park.
