Woman stabbed in Golden Harvest Park

GOLDEN HARVEST PARK — Residents have been warned to always be on the lookout, especially if they are alone.

Honeydew police have warned residents not to walk or run alone in Golden Harvest Park after several posts on Facebook alleged that a woman was stabbed while jogging there.

According to the posts, the woman was attacked on the bridge at about 6am on 16 January. She was stabbed in the arm and her car keys were stolen. The park is known as a hotspot for attacks on people who jog, run or walk their dogs there.

Richard Gill said he had to draw a weapon to stop an attack that happened to him last year while walking his dog at about 2pm. “I reported the matter to park security, as well as the Honeydew police, but to date, nothing has ever come of it,” he said. Since the incident, he no longer visits the park, and he warned others to always be on the lookout, especially if they are alone.

Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said no one had opened a case at their station, but he encouraged residents to report crimes that happen at the park.

“Because it is summertime, residents tend to go running in the park in the early mornings and early evenings, but they should be very careful and not go alone, especially female residents,” he said.

He urged all victims to report the matter, even if nothing is stolen.

Golden Harvest Park manager Mike Marcie urged parkgoers to always be on the lookout and report any suspicious activity to the park’s security guards, as well as to the police.
