IEB boasts a 98.67% pass rate

GAUTENG – Some of South Africa’s matric pupils now know their fate as IEB results are released.

The wait is over for more than 10 000 pupils who wrote the Independent Examination Board’s National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations. The IEB released results at midnight on 29 December and is boasting a 98.67 percent pass rate for this year’s class of Grade 12.

This year’s pass rate shows a slight improvement compared to last year’s 98.30 percent pass rate.

According to the IEB, all candidates that passed achieved a pass that is good enough to enter tertiary study at one of the three levels.

q 87.61 percent achieved entry to degree study

q 9.83 percent qualified for entry to diploma study

q 1.23 percent achieved entry for study at the Higher Certificate level

The closing date for re-marks and re-checks is Tuesday, 10 January 2017 and the results of remarks will be released on 1 February 2017.

The closing date for learners who qualify for the supplementary examinations is 6 February 2017. The results for supplementary exams will be released on 31 March 2017.

The closing date for re-marks/re-checks of the supplementary exams is Friday, 7 April 2017 with these results being released on 22 April 2017.
