Thank you South Africa

HOUGHTON – A million thank yous to generous hearts.

The Reach For A Dream Foundation would like to extend its gratitude to all those who continually heed the call for support to enrich the lives of children fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Julia Sotirianakos, the foundation’s CEO, said they were able to enrich the lives of over 46 000 children a year because of the generosity of South Africans.

“On behalf of the Reach For A Dream board of directors and staff, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our donors, sponsors, volunteers and the general public for your incredible support this past year,” said Sotirianakos.

The foundation fulfils dreams for children between the ages of three and 18 who are fighting life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, heart and kidney conditions and blood disorders. Since making the first dream come true in 1988, over 16 000 dreams have been fulfilled to date.

“During 2016, we have had many successes, one of which is being voted as the Readers’ Choice award as Best NGO for 2016. Another was the wonderful launch of our Ring the Bell campaign at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Hospital and the Donald Gordon Hospital. We will be launching this campaign nationwide in various hospitals next year.”

The foundation’s Slipper Day campaign was another highlight and with the help of their partners, Pick n Pay and Wimpy, and the South African public, an amount of over R3,2 million was raised and the foundation is hoping to fulfill 1 627 dreams before the year is over.

“There is no way to fully express our gratitude for all of the support that we continuously receive,” said Sotirianakos

“The foundation is always inspired by the dedication and generosity of people who answer the call to support us again and again. We would like to wish South Africa a joyous holiday, filled with peace, love and prosperity.”
