Matome wishes his residents a wonderful festive season

JUSKEI PARK – Ward 115 Councillor Matome Mafokwane says residents must be vigilant while celebrating the festive season.

Ward 115 councillor Matome Mafokwane, maintained that being vigilant is key to having a prosperous and wonderful festive season.

He pleaded to the residents in his ward to be extremely cautious as this time of the year attracts criminals. “We know that this time of the year excites criminals. When half of Gauteng is vacant, criminals think it’s an opportunity for them to strike,” he said.

Matome also urged residents to heed the City of Johannesburg’s call to continue using water sparingly; and he advised those who would be travelling to various destinations to be cautious on the road and to drive safely.

He said residents should enjoy their break, come back refreshed and continue to be productive and contribute to the economy of the City.

“We will have an exciting time in 2017 as we want to create an environment where businesses will be able to grow and hire more people,” he said.

He explained that the City was working tirelessly to ensure that residents continue to receive adequate services during this festive season. He indicated that he would continue with his oversight work in all suburbs in his ward.

“Adequate communication will ensure that residents are aware of developments in the ward.” He urged residents who are members of the ward committee to use their skills in the field within the ward as this will effectively improve services.

He concluded that residents should be active participants in all activities in their ward. “I will continue to monitor the projects, work with residents’ associations, ratepayers’ associations and community policing forums to uplift this area,” he concluded.

Some of the suburbs in Ward 115 are Bloubosrand, Jukskei Park, part of Fourways, Maroeladal, part of Needwood, Broadacres Ext 7 and part of Witkoppen.
