Blairgowrie gala bonanza

BLAIRGOWRIE – Every learner had a chance to participate in the gala.

From war cries to big splashes, great fun was had at the 2016 Blairgowrie Primary School junior inter-house swimming gala.

The juniors at the school had their chance to show off their aquatic skills in the pool on 1 December. Foundation phase physical education teacher and swim coordinator, Beth Neale explained, “This is an inclusive gala with every learner swimming three times. I am so proud of all that the learners have achieved.”

There were in the region of 440 little ones from across the foundation phase such as 80 Grade Rs and 120 children in Grade 1,2, and 3.

The three houses, Murray (red), Dundee (blue) and Atholl (yellow) cheered on their fellow swimmers as they took to the pool.

The winners were as follows:

House cup: Dundee

Spirit cup: Murray

Victor ludorum: Grade 3, Connor Dawes (Dundee)

Victrix ludorum: Grade 3, Angel Lee van Staden (Dundee)

Victor ludorum: Grade 2, Travis Gaul (Murray)

Victrix ludorum: Grade 2, Angela Bowen (Dundee)

Victor ludorum: Grade 1 shared by Michael Proctor (Dundee); Ashok Rebeiro (Murray); Haydn Crous (Murray)

Victrix ludorum: Grade 1 shared by Helen Christie (Murray); Nicola Smith (Atholl); Zaylin Seconds (Murray).

Victor ludorum: Grade R, Rogan Kemp (Murray)

Victrix ludorum: Grade R shared by Jessie Spence (Murray) and Jennifer Labuschagne (Murray).
