The Junior Traffic Centre in Fontainebleau helps keep young children informed and educated concerning road and traffic rules.
The traffic centre is not only just extremely cute in its miniature version of South African roads, but boasts working traffic lights and a petrol station. Ward 104 Councillor Mike Wood said, “We have worked hard to maintain and keep the centre looking good and functioning well,” he said.
The centre can be booked for children’s parties, as well. It has small roads, stop signs, circles and sharp corners where children can ride bicycles and tricycles to learn the laws of the road.
The centre is open to all members of the public during office hours and use of the facility is free. Schools and families are welcome to book and bring a minimum of 10 children for parties or outings.
“I would like to see more schools making use of the centre. It is so important for children to know how to use the road and this is the perfect place for them to learn and practice,” added Wood.
