UPDATE: SPCA thanks Randburg community

NORTH RIDING – Randburg SPCA thanks the concerned community for their kind donations.

The Randburg SPCA experienced the true caring nature of the community after it made an appeal for kitten and puppy food.
Social media posts circulated on Facebook detailing an alleged robbery at the Randburg SPCA. Some of the posts said that the organisation had been broken into and that all the animal food was stolen.
General manager of the organisation Craig Rudman said, “It wasn’t a robbery as such, rather an internal matter that is being investigated.
“On Thursday night [17 November], one of our staff members, who was working after hours, allowed a vehicle onto our premises and they loaded their vehicle with bags of dog and cat food.
“No one was harmed or forced in any way whatsoever to give these people the food. The staff member has been arrested and is currently waiting in jail for his bail hearing.”
Once the community heard about their plea, dozens of concerned residents showed up with a multitude of donations. Charmaine Rowlands, a member of the management committee said on behalf of the committee, “Thank you Randburg. Thank you for your show of love and compassion, your kindness and your big hearts. You restored our faith in humanity and made us so proud to be part of the Randburg community.”
Rowlands explained that there were just too many people to thank individually. However, the organisation thanked Merlin Security and Randburg police officers for their donations.
