New school, new beginnings

RANDPARK RIDGE – Soon to be Grade 1s have fun at their new school.

Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge hosted the Annual Grade 1 Orientation Day on 29 October.
The Grade R children met their Grade 1 teacher for next year. The children enjoyed the opportunity to get accustomed to their new surroundings, while their parents attended a presentation in The Great Hall.
The Grade Rs were treated to a demonstration on what they can look forward to when they join ‘big school’. The Grade 1s recited poetry and sang songs, in English, isiZulu and Afrikaans.

A highlight every year is for a child in each of the Grade 1 classes to read a story they wrote. This year the theme was ‘ My teacher’.
Children had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities in the classrooms including music and physical education lessons. Finally, the ultimate surprise for the Grade Rs, was to see the newly revamped foundation phase playground.
“The event marks a special time in the lives of so many families as they embark on a new chapter in the lives of their children. We at Trinityhouse Preparatory School, are proud to be part of their journey. We welcome the Grade R 2016 group into our 2017 Preparatory School family,” said principal Hilton Scott.
