Pizza delivery man pepper-sprayed

WINDSOR EAST – Five pizzas were stolen during the incident.

A Del Forno pizza delivery man was attacked and his bike stolen on 2 November.
The incident took place on Lords Avenue in Windsor East at approximately 7.50pm.
According to Linden Police spokesperson, Captain Walter Spencer, “He received an order to deliver to a flat in Lords Avenue and on his way there the driver was stopped by the suspect who told the victim he had ordered the pizza.”
While the victim (the delivery man) took out the slip to check the order, the male suspect sprayed him in the face with pepper spray.
The suspect stole the delivery vehicle, a Honda 125 bike, the five pizzas as well as a card machine.
The manager of Del Forno at the Robin Corner Shopping Centre, who asked to remain anonymous, said, “This is the first time that it has happened to us but the suspects made a pizza delivery order with us and made it look real.”
She explained that the address given was for a complex but that the complex unit number did not exist.

Another pizza delivery man was robbed in Blairgowrie in August. Captain Spencer commented that false orders to pizza places which resulted in robberies had happened three times in that month.

Captain Spencer said that it is difficult for delivery men to confirm if the person who ordered really lives there. “They must always be ready to drive off,” he concluded.
