Statistics South Africa released the most popular baby names based on recorded live births from 2015.

According to the report on The Sunday Times, the top 10 most popular boy’s names in South Africa were:

1.  Junior
2. Blessing
3. Gift
4. Bandile
5. Prince
6. Siyabonga
7. Melokuhle
8. Lethabo
9. Banele
10.  Samkelo

While the top 10 girl’s names were:

1.  Precious
2. Princess
3. Angel
4. Amahle
5. Minenhle
6. Thandolwethu
7. Melokuhle
8. Blessing
9. Faith
10. Lesedi

In total, the statistics revealed on 26 October that 1,142,275 live births registered in 2014 and 1,084,511 in 2015. Male birth registrations have exceeded female birth registrations for the past three years.
