Woman robbed at gunpoint

ROBINDALE – Police warn residents to be vigilant while driving into and out of their properties.

Three armed men who were travelling in an A-Class Mercedez Benz allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint while she was driving out of her garage in Clive Street, Robindale.

This incident occurred on 26 October at around 6.10am. The woman who was leaving her house in the morning saw the white vehicle on the road.

While she was leaving her house the three men approached her and allegedly pointed a gun at her. “They tied her hands and feet and left her in the garage,” said Linden Police Station spokesperson, Captain Walter Spencer.

The men fled with the woman’s dark grey Volkswagen Polo, handbag, laptop and cellphone. “Any person going in or out is a potential victim, these robbers drive around and look for people leaving their houses in the morning and coming home at night,” he said.

Spencer urged residents to observe their driveways before opening the gate. “It is wise and safe to reverse into your yard as it will give you an opportunity to react promptly by driving away, pressing a panic button or using your hooter [if an incident occurs],” he said.

The police are investigating a case of hijacking.
