HONEYDEW – Residents encounter scary creatures at Fear the Night Run.

Residents had to run for their lives from ghosts, ghouls and other monsters with murderous intent at the annual In-Reach Halloween event at Jackal Creek Golf Estate, Honeydew.

About 1 000 residents enjoyed  food stalls, fashion shows, fire dancing, spray painting and creepy crawlies, and of course, the main attraction – the Fear the Night Run.

The 1.5km run/walk was followed by a trick or treat walk on the same route. The journey was a frightful one, winding in the dark on a narrow path through a haunted house, a corn field, a forest, and a spooky graveyard, with scary creatures waiting to jump out at you when least expected.

During the run, residents had to see how many times they could complete the run in 40 minutes. Some of the runners were able to do it three times. When it was the children’s turn to trick or treat on the route, the scary monsters proved very frightening. Several children screamed, cried and turned back. Only the truly brave children could finish without shedding a tear through terror.

“It has really been fantastic,” said In-Reach owner, Corné van Zyl. “Next year it will be even bigger and better.”
