Resident compliments JRA

VANDIA GROVE – JRA quickly repairs tarred road and puts up traffic lights in Vandia Grove.

VANDIA GROVE – A resident said Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) should be complimented for urgently resolving his complaint within a week.

Geoff Tyrer from Vandia Grove said he complained about a dip in the tar road on the bend at Hugo Street and within a week it was repaired. He initially complained to Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood about the road not being safe. Wood then escalated it to the entity’s Randburg depot.

“I would like to thank both the councillor and JRA on behalf of everyone who uses Hugo Street for taking my concerns seriously and fixing the problem, which now makes that section of road much safer,” he said.

He said he was also impressed about the new traffic lights that the entity put up on the intersection of Cumberland Avenue and Elgin Road. “JRA is actually doing a great job. I am impressed with their quick response,” he said. Tyrer said everyone was too quick to complain rather than compliment

It was established that the intersection needed traffic lights as some of the motorists did not obey the rules and stop at the stop sign. This had apparently caused accidents on a weekly basis.

Motorists travelling to Bryanston from Jacaranda Avenue often pass through that intersection as it is quicker.

Wood said JRA responded quickly to ensure traffic-calming measures are improved in the suburb. “They have put up the traffic lights, painted the road and everything is going well, so far, without accidents,” he said.

Details: Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood 082 853 2174.
