Cresta water pipe repairs are complete

CRESTA - Repairs to the burst pipe in Cresta is complete but it will take the day for the water supply to return to normal.

Joburg Water confirmed this morning that repairs have been completed to the burst main water pipe near the corner of Republic Road and Judges Avenue.

Manager of marketing and communications, Tidimalo Chuene, confirmed the main supply valve in Northcliff was planned to be switched on at 11am and that it would take six to seven hours for reservoirs and towers to be filled and the supply to return to normal.

Low-lying areas should begin to receive water this afternoon, while high-lying areas will receive water later on when the towers are full and there is more pressure in the system. Two towers and reservoirs in the area are empty so it will take approximately a day for the entire system to be back to normal.

Water tanks are still placed in various areas.
