Two lecture halls at University of Johannesburg’s Bunting Road Campus caught fire shortly after 1pm this afternoon.
According to UJ’s senior manager of strategic communications, Kaamini Reddy, it seems that a technical fault in an overhead projector in a hall in the Con Cowan Building probably caused the fire. Although, an investigation will determine the cause.
No one was hurt.
Phenyo Leepile tweeted a video, where smoke can be seen filling the hallway of the building. People are seen using a hosepipe to fight the fire through a doorway. He tweeted, “Thanks to KG, Mdu & Nkukza for putting out the fire #UJ #UJFees #FeesMustFall”
