Three bikers involved in accident

MALANSHOF - Three motorcyclists have been treated for moderate injuries after colliding with a vehicle after N1 on-ramp onto Malibongwe Drive.

Details are still sketchy regarding an accident that occurred near the Malibongwe Drive on-ramp, involving three motorbikes.

According to Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Athlenda Mathe, three motorcyclists were treated at the scene for moderate injuries with one motorcyclist taken to hospital for further treatment. Mathe explained that at 7.40am yesterday, three motorbikes and one vehicle collided on the N1 after Malibongwe Drive in Malanshof.

“Netcare 911 paramedics worked alongside other emergency services on the scene and two motorcyclists were stabilised and transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care,” she said. She added that the third motorcyclist had refused hospital treatment and that the exact cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

Spokesperson, for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, Chief Superintendant Wayne Minnaar, confirmed that the accident took place and added that the case will be investigated.

However, spokesperson for the Randburg Police Station, Captain Makgowanyana Maja said that no such case had yet been opened at their police station and could not comment until this was done.
