Clicks in Brightwater Commons robbed

PRESIDENT RIDGE – More than four armed male suspects were involved in the incident.

Three guards were overpowered when more than four male suspects broke into Clicks at Brightwater Commons shopping centre.

On 10 September, at about 12.15am four males in a silver Mercedes Benz stopped at the entrance of Brightwater Commons. A security guard approached the vehicle, it was then that the suspects pointed a firearm at the man and dragged him into the vehicle.

According to Linden Police spokesperson Captain Walter Spencer, “A second guard arrived and again they pointed a firearm  at him and put him inside of the silver Mercedes.”  The suspects then proceeded to enter the centre.

Upon arrival, the suspects were approached by yet another security guard whom they grabbed. The suspects broke into the Clicks. “Items were stolen from the store but we have not yet received a full list of the items taken,” added Spencer.

Radios and cell phones were stolen from the security guards. Spencer explained that there were multiple vehicles and suspects involved in the incident. “A silver VW Polo and a white Chevrolet bakkie with more than four suspects inside of the vehicles, excluding the suspects that were driving the silver Mercedes, were also allegedly involved,” added Spencer.

The security guards who were later set free unharmed, allegedly had their faces covered during the ordeal could not give an accurate account of the exact number of suspects that were on scene.
