Water interruptions hit Ferndale

Water interruptions will take place on 8 September between 7am and 5pm.

Planned water interruptions have been scheduled for Ferndale on 8 September as a tie-in pipe is to be installed.

Various Streets will have no water from 7am to 5pm. Restoration time will be between 5pm and 8pm. The work site will be situated on Bram Fischer Drive between Grove and George streets. Residents are reminded that level-2 water restrictions are still in place and must be adhered to.

Level-2 water restrictions according to section 44 (3) of the Water Services Bylaw states that all consumers are forthwith compelled:

  •  Not to water and irrigate their gardens from 8am and 4pm every day
  •  Not to fill their swimming pools with municipal water
  •  Not to use hosepipes to wash their cars or paved areas.

External communications officer for Johannesburg Water, Eleanor Mavimbela, released a statement which stated that water supply across the City of Joburg is normal, with reservoir levels across the city in a satisfactory position.

Consumers are urged to remain active partners in reducing the amount of water used in the City of Joburg, and to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure to 080 000 2587.

Residents are encouraged to subscribe on Johannesburg Water’s website, to their SMS notification service for alerts on planned or unplanned service interruptions.
