Grandparents honoured at The King’s School, Robin Hills

ROBIN HILLS - Grandparents were treated to a special day at The King School Robin Hills.

Nathan and Emma Edgar embarked on a four-hour drive from Bloemfontein on 26 August, excited to spend a special day with their grandson at The King’s School in Robin Hills on Grandparents’ Day.

“We feel that being a grandparent is an honour; we are blessed to have grandchildren and what a treat to spend such a special day with our grandson,” Emma said.

Principal of the school, Jill van der Walt, said that every year they celebrated the grandparents of their pupils as they added value to their grandchildrens’ lives. “This is one of our happiest occasions of the year and our pupils are very fond of showing off their grandparents,” she said.

Van der Walt pointed out that they hosted about 200 grandparents, annually, as a token of appreciation from their grandchildren. The grandparents were served tea and treats by the Grade 5s and a concert was held where the pre-primary pupils sang songs from the 60s and 70s.

Teacher Alison Sigerson added that the shared relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is very special, adding that the school spent about five weeks preparing for the day.
